How to Get a Drivers License

The State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission has specific license requirements for non-citizens. If you are not a U.S. citizen and have recently moved to New Jersey, you must have temporary visa status and fit into one of the categories listed on the attached link to apply for a New Jersey driver license: http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Licenses/LicensesNon-Citizens.htm

Other states will have similar requirements.  Go to the site for the Motor Vehicle Commission of the state you are visiting or living in to insure that you take the necessary steps to apply for a driver’s license in that state.

Get Accredited Legal Advice for Immigration

Getting a Visa

All foreign workers must obtain permission to work legally in the United States. Each employment category for admission has different requirements, conditions and authorized periods of stay.  There are five categories on The Official Website of the Department of Homeland Security that relate to getting a visa to work in the US.  These categories are for: Temporary (Nonimmigrant) Workers, Permanent (Immigrant) Workers,  Information for Employers and Employees; and Temporary Visitors for Business.
